Jeffrey Dorfman - Associate

Mr. Dorfman is an Associate at Fitapelli & Schaffer, LLP.

Mr. Dorfman currently assists in the representation of clients in single-plaintiff, collective and class action lawsuits for failure to pay proper wages, overtime and commissions.  He also represents individuals in a wide variety of labor and employment related litigation, including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, failure to accommodate disabilities, family and medical leave violations, and breach of contract.

Prior to joining Fitapelli & Schaffer, LLP, Mr. Dorfman interned at one of the largest and most well-known corporate law firms in New York, where he gained valuable experience in several different areas of law.  He also worked for a small Criminal Defense firm on Long Island, where he completed a pro bono project for a former marine and NYPD officer. 

Mr. Dorfman received his undergraduate degree in Operations Management, from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.  He earned his Juris Doctor at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York and graduated as part of the Business Honors Concentration.  While earning his degree, Mr. Dorfman was an active member of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Law Journal, serving as a staff editor and then the Business Administrator.  Additionally, he served as the Secretary of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and was a member of several other student groups including the Business Law Society and the Labor and Employment Law Society.

Mr. Dorfman is licensed to practice law in New York State and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.  He is a member of the New York County Lawyers Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) of New York.
